We all know about the selfie craze, but this year there has been a rise in the number of leg selfies, also known as lelfies or legfies. Wilkinson Sword got in touch with me to challenge me to create a leg portrait that defined a moment in 2015 for me using their Hydrosilk Bikini razor. It sounded like fun, so I agreed and got sent the prettiest box of bits to play with!
So, why am I sitting in the street with a Royal python draped about my legs?
Well, I have a condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) which is a genetic condition that affects the collagen in your body. As a result of this, my joints dislocate and sublux a lot, my muscles hurt, I have heart problems and a massive list of other stuff that I’m going to write up in another at some point. When I (well technically my bf) took this photo, I was in a lot of pain but I was happy; I’d been to the zoo!
A trip to the zoo (or anywhere, for that matter) is a big undertaking for someone with a condition like mine, you have to rest up for quite a few days beforehand and then try not to do too much on the actual day. I did a lot of walking that day, London Zoo isn’t the biggest of zoos but it’s still much bigger that my flat, which is where I spend most of my time. Basically, I was in a lot of pain due to the walking and transport etc, but I was happy because I hadn’t had to cancel the visit as I do very often have to do if I’m not well enough.
I got to see so many brilliant things, took lots of photos of the animals and got to spend a day outside, relaxing with my boyfriend. It was a pretty good day! So, to capture this moment I decided to take my legfie with my pet royal python Rocky…I don’t think I could have got a good photo with a tiger 😛
About the Wilkinson Sword Hydrosilk Bikini Razor
To prep for my photo I used the Wilkinson Sword Hydrosilk Bikini razor which is one of those cool ones that has a razor at one end and a cool bikini trimmer at the other. One of the best things about this razor is that it actually comes with a battery in the packaging. This means that you can pick it up last minute if you’ve forgotten yours and your on your way to the airport or a hotel. Also, you don’t have to remember to buy the batteries or hunt around the house for them! The little things are important!
The moisture strip on the razor was great and actually went sticky in the water and felt like it was actually doing something. It feels like it will last a while too.
Before I shaved with the hydrosilk bikini razor, I used a pair of exfoliating gloves from Boots. I’ve used a lot of body scrubs before but never a pair of exfoliating gloves and ooooh I like them! It’s so much easier to to rub your legs and feet and you don’t have to control any gloopy product. This are now a fave product of mine as I suffer quite badly with dry skin thanks to the ol’ EDS.
