Perfume, it’s a classic Christmas gift. If you’re thinking about splashing out this year, then Annick Goutal Les Absolus Vanille Charnelle Eau de Parfum might just be what you’re looking for.
When you think of vanilla, you probably think of that sweet, sickly aroma that you find in scented candles or fragranced lipgloss, but Annick Goutal Les Absolus Vanille Charnelle is much more complicated than that.
Vanilla (actual vanilla not the synthetic stuff) isn’t a soft, sweet scent, it has notes of wood, grapefruit and olive. It almost smells like a perfume on its own, so when combined with the other notes of Ylang Ylang and black pepper we have an altogether more grown up, rich scent.
“Vanilla alone isn’t as soft, it has notes of wood, grapefruit and olive but not the soft creamy scent often associated with vanilla.” Camille Goutal
Top Note: Ylang Ylang, Pepper
Middle Note: White Musk
Bottom Note: Vanilla
This scent lingers on the skin for a long time and alters with with wear and body temperature, slowly morphing through the rich tones of each note. It is an exquisite scent and I would recommend checking it out, even if you don’t normally like vanilla fragrances. It has certainly changed my mind, I love it!
“Camille Goutal and Isabelle Doyen picture a milky bath: almond milk infused with vanilla beans in which you would immerse yourself before a meeting with your lover.”
Vanille Charnelle is part of the Les Absolus collection, alongside 1001 Ouds and Ambre Sauvage, which are equally as delicious.
